If the animals have arrived at your saleyard without a tag, you must first tag them.

Once they are tagged, you must register them with NAIT before they leave your saleyard. You can do this by:

  • registering an animal in NAIT online
  • using third-party software
  • over the phone with help from our Support Centre.

When submitting the animal registration, enter as much known information about the animal as possible. If the animal’s date and location of birth is not known, your saleyard PICA can submit an animal registration with these fields marked as ‘unknown’.

If the tag has been replaced at the sale and the original tag is known, your saleyard PICA must submit a tag replacement.

If an animal arrives tagged but not registered, it is not the responsibility of the saleyard to register the animal. The vendor (sending PICA) should have registered the animal before it left their farm.
