In this guide, we will go through adding and removing delegates in the NAIT system.

While the Person in Charge of Animals (or PICA) is legally responsible for meeting their NAIT obligations, they may choose to assign 1 or more persons as a delegate to assist them with using NAIT.

Delegates are registered with their own logins in the NAIT system and are assigned to a NAIT number for which they are delegated to perform actions on behalf of the PICA. It’s important that all delegates are registered and assigned correctly, so if they need to call our Support Centre for help, they’re authorised to discuss the NAIT number.

Starting on the NAIT home screen, select Manage NAIT activities to the right of your NAIT number, and choose View and update NAIT number registration details. From here, 1 of the sections up the top is Delegates. Choose Add new. You’ll be required to provide at least 2 pieces of information about the delegate. We’ll use their surname and their residential road address. Once you press Search, the system will show you all the delegates that meet those search criteria. When you see your delegate’s name, choose Assign. There are a few details you can update such as displaying your delegate’s name when people search for you, or if you want them to receive email notifications about the NAIT number. You can also choose to set an expiry date for their delegation on the NAIT number.

Once you’re happy with the details, you can press Continue. The system will show you a green box if the details were saved successfully.

Should you ever need to remove a delegate from your NAIT number, on the same place under your NAIT number details section, you can see the word Remove in blue to the right. Select this and confirm that you wish to remove the delegate. You’ll be able to see that you no longer have that delegate assigned. After that, you’re good to go.

Please remember — the responsibilities of meeting NAIT obligations remain with the PICA even if there are delegates assigned. All information that is provided to the NAIT system must be accurate at the time it’s provided, and kept up to date. Thank you for supporting traceability and disease management in New Zealand.
