In this guide, we will go through assigning an information provider in the NAIT system.
While the Person in Charge of Animals (or PICA) is legally responsible for meeting their NAIT obligations, information providers are entities accredited by the NAIT organisation that can provide information and assist with NAIT obligations on behalf of the PICA. Before you assign an information provider, it is important that you have entered into a contract with them and that there is an agreement on what NAIT obligations they will assist with.
Starting on the NAIT home screen, select Manage NAIT activities to the right of your NAIT number. Choose View and update NAIT number registration details. Near the top of the page, you will see the section Information providers where you can choose Add new. This will take you to a dropdown list of all information providers available for you to assign to your NAIT number. Scroll through the list until you find your information provider. Once you press Continue, the system will confirm that you want this organisation to act on your behalf. If you’re happy with this, select Yes. The system will show a green box if the action was successful. After that, you’re good to go.
Please remember — the responsibilities of meeting NAIT obligations remain with the PICA even if there are information providers assigned. All information that is provided to the NAIT system must be accurate at the time it’s provided, and kept up to date. Thank you for supporting traceability in New Zealand.
