We have extended the timeframes for updating NAIT to help ease some of the pressure on farmers and other People in Charge of Animals (PICAs) in Tasman, Marlborough, Kaikōura, Canterbury, Ōamaru and Dunedin.
This extension takes effect on the date it is published in the New Zealand Gazette and remains in force until Friday 10 July 2026, which is 48 hours after the end of Wednesday 8 July 2026.
PICA registration
Register as a PICA by Friday 10 July 2026.
Animal movements
Declare animal movements by Friday 10 July 2026.
Untagged animals
Animals that arrive untagged must be tagged and registered by Friday 10 July 2026. Where possible, you should check if any NAIT tags have been lost or misplaced.
Dead and missing animals
Declare animal deaths and losses by Friday 10 July 2026.
