What to expect
The FMG Young Farmer of the Year competition is a nationwide contest designed to identify and celebrate the top young farmers across New Zealand. Open to NZYF members aged 16 to 31, the competition highlights their skills, knowledge, and leadership in agriculture.
We're excited to be attending this year's Young Farmer of the Year event - where we'll be running contestants through a module designed to test their skills on something to do with NAIT, TBfree or M. bovis (no spoilers).
The Regional Finals are being held at various locations across the country:
- Aorangi - Saturday 31 January 2026
- Otago Southland - Saturday 7 February 2026
- Tasman - Saturday 14 February 2026
- Taranaki Manawatu - Saturday 7 March 2026
- East Coast - Saturday 14 March 2026
- Waikato Bay of Plenty - Saturday 28 March 2026
- Northern Regional Final - Saturday 11 April 2026
