Benefits to using MyOSPRI for Animal Status Declarations (ASDs)

Using MyOSPRI for electronic Animal Status Declarations (ASDs) improves lifetime traceability of livestock, but also allows you to:

  • transfer an ASD to another meat processing plant in your organisation
  • accept, reject or put on hold ASDs
  • assign roles to others so they can help with managing ASDs
  • accept ASDs using your own software or applications, once they are integrated with MyOSPRI
  • ask your own supplementary questions as part of the ASD
  • put plants on hold — over closure periods.

Finding and completing an ASD

To find an ASD:

  • log in to MyOSPRI
  • select Locations
  • select the correct meat processing plant
  • select pencil icon beside the ASD you would like to process.

If all the information is correct:

  • select Complete the ASD
  • select Save.

If the tally information is incorrect:

  • check that you can update the tally within the relevant threshold (update the tallies by using the - and + buttons)
  • if all the information is now correct, select Complete the ASD
  • select Save.

If you find that the tally exceeds the threshold, send the ASD back to the farmer for review.

Tally thresholds in MyOSPRI are:

  • 3% on either side for sheep
  • +/- 1 on either side for deer.

Cattle tallies must match exactly.

Sending an ASD for review

To send an ASD back for review:

  • log in to MyOSPRI
  • select Locations
  • select the correct meat processing plant
  • select pencil icon beside the ASD you would like to process
  • select Needs review
  • select the reasons why the ASD is incomplete
  • enter any notes to the farmer
  • select Save and wait for the ASD to be amended and resubmitted.

You can send an ASD back to a farmer for review if it has incorrect:

  • contact information
  • destination information
  • industry codes such as NAIT numbers
  • movement date information
  • tallies
  • answers to a regulatory or supplementary question.

Rejecting an ASD

To reject an ASD:

  • log in to MyOSPRI
  • select Locations
  • select the correct meat processing plant
  • select pencil icon beside the ASD you would like to process
  • select Reject ASD
  • select the reasons why the ASD is incomplete
  • enter any notes to the farmer
  • select Save.

You can reject an ASD if:

  • animals are unfit to slaughter
  • animals are in a withholding period
  • you suspect the ASD is false or misleading
  • animals are excessively dirty
  • animals are imported
  • tallies are incorrect
  • you have a plant breakdown
  • you're affected by a natural disaster
  • you can't process stock for another reason — for example, your site is full.

Transferring an ASD

You can transfer an ASD to another meat processing plant in your organisation as long as the ASD hasn't already been completed, cancelled or rejected. To transfer an ASD:

  • log in to MyOSPRI
  • select Locations
  • select the meat processing plant the ASD has been sent to
  • select pencil icon beside the ASD you would like to transfer
  • select Transfer plant
  • select the plant you’d like to transfer the ASD to
  • check the box declaring you are authorised to transfer the ASD
  • select Save.

Your ability to manage ASDs depends on what role you're assigned in MyOSPRI. Read the page below to find out about meat processor roles and permissions.
