New NAIT education modules

As part of the NAIT National Education Project, we’ve designed 5 education modules to help you understand your NAIT obligations.

Our new suite of education modules covers the 5 key NAIT obligations:

  1. Registering as a Person in Charge of Animals (PICA).
  2. Registering a NAIT location.
  3. Tagging and registering NAIT animals.
  4. Recording NAIT movements.
  5. Keeping NAIT up to date.

The modules help you to understand what these NAIT obligations involve, and why they’re crucial to traceability and disease management.

The modules can be used by:

  • farm managers to educate their workers
  • our Regional Partners to educate farmers
  • industry partners and shareholders when running workshops
  • agricultural learning institutes to educate students.

To see speaker notes, we recommend downloading the modules and opening them with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Diverse working group created modules

A group of people from OSPRI and Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) worked alongside farmers to create these modules. They ensured the modules covered the NAIT obligations, were easy to understand, and were customised for our audiences.

What’s next?

Our Regional Partners will be making sure this NAIT education is delivered in a way that works for each region and person.

We’ll be reviewing responses to our feedback form (linked to in the modules) to help us improve and understand if we’re headed in the right direction.

We will continue to work on the National Education Project and expect to create more NAIT education material, with a focus on catering for different learning styles.
